Chive Kitchen’s purpose is to offer vegan dishes that appeal to a wide range of tastes. Our menu taps into Portuguese and Western European flavor profiles as well as flavors from California’s fusion cuisine. We are a small restaurant with a small team who works very hard. Some items are not available all of the time, our menu always has changes depending on availability, seasons and whatever crazy ideas we have that day. We prep our dishes from scratch, some busy nights we will run out of items. Come and kick back, have a couple of cocktails and enjoy our one of a kind vegan menu.

Since we are very small we do not take reservations. If you have a large party please feel free to call and we will do our best to make arrangements for you. – Salud! – Suzy

Just recently, Chive Kitchen, a vegan restaurant located in the suburbs of Detroit, won the title of “Best Vegetarian Restaurant” in Vote 4 the Best. It seems that Chive isn’t the only restaurant of its kind in the area, as Detroit is gaining a reputation as a vegan mecca with options like Detroit Vegan Soul, Chili Mustard Onions, and Ale Mary’s, a restaurant with a dedicated vegan menu and beer list. It seems that for the city of Detroit, veganism is starting a revolution.

“I look at vegan food as food. I don’t look at it as vegan. Where you have cow, pig, chicken, duck etc. a plant based diet has mustard greens, beets, artichokes, so many amazing mushrooms, nuts, seeds, flours, legumes, grains and on and on. So much texture, color and flavor to play with. - Suzy

I went for the vegan house burger, which is a cannellini-seitan herbed patty with American cheese, dill relish sauce, pickles, romaine lettuce and caramelized onion on a burger bun. It was absolutely the best vegan burger I’ve had.

For vegan and vegetarian recommendations in metro Detroit, Lee points his followers to the pro, Sonali Monika, who has featured Bobcat Bonnie’s Vegan Chorizo Taco, Chive Kitchen’s Jalapeño Burger, and beyond.
